The Giants are loaded at SP, who do you see moving and for what teams and players?
This is the Giants current roster of Pitchers:
Tim Lincecum
Matt Cain
Barry Zito
Randy Johnson
Jonathan Sánchez
The Giants have the following players in the minors that are listed as Top Prospects:
Tim Alderson, a right hander who is 6-6/220 lbs. Hes barely 20 years old and is rated as the 48th best prospect by Scout.com.
Madison Bumgarner, is a left hander, who is a 6-5/225 lbs CANT MISS prospect, who is the 13th best prospect in all of baseball.
Now Zito is barely into his 3rd year of a 7 year contract and probably cant be moved. Randy Johnson is set to retired once he reaches that 300 win plateau. Linecum isn’t going to move unless a team wants to give up the farm or a player in the range of Longoria in the deal. So that leaves Matt Cain and Jonathan Sanchez, which I believe Cain is easier to move because he’s got value but the Giants probably dont want to part with cheaply.
Just keep in mind, the Giants probably ain’t going to want to trade for a 2B because of Burris. And C because Buster Posey is waiting in the minors and he’s about a year or 2 out. At 1B, Angel Villalona is the best 1B in all of the minor leagues. So he’s near a year or 2 out.
So what do the Giants do?

A team is never loaded at SP, not even the Braves in the 90s (Maddux, Glavine and Smoltz) were loaded. In particulas the Giants pitching is not exactly impressive.
Sanchez is more a mid-reliever. Zito and Randy Johnson are past of their primes. Lincecum has had only one good season.

Tim Lincecum and Matt Cain are untouchable so they wont be going anywhere. Sanchez on the other hand I think will be traded. The problem is at some point in the season he is value is way up and teams he would give the Giants more trade value, and sometimes he is awful and loses value. He is so inconsistant which makes it difficult for the Giants to decide to trade him or not. I think Sanchez will be traded at some point because the Giants have two minor league pitchers in Bumgarner and Alderson who will be starters in a 1 or two years.

The trade bait for this season is either going to be Jonathan Sanchez or Noah Lowry AND a player to be named later (Frandsen?)
We have an abundance of left-handed talent and are looking to get rid of it for a 1B. Villalona is good, but he’s not going to be ready this year. Even if Posey stays down another year, which is highly unlikely, Sandoval moonlights as a catcher. I think Jorge Cantu of the Marlins would be a solid pick, but it wouldn’t surprise me for them to shelf Burriss in favor of a more solid hitter like Fernando Tatis or Luis Castillo of the Mets.

You’re really overstating the Giants pitching. They will not be moving Cain - Cain and Lincecum are the only solid starters they have. Sanchez stinks - they should moved him when they had the chance. They couldn’t get a third string outfielder for him now. So what are you talking about?
